For the first time, two former bosses of the GIGN and the RAID, a policeman and a gendarme, Thierry Orosco and Jean-Michel Fauvergue, are engaging in an unprecedented exercise: publicly confronting their points of view, their analyzes, explaining, dissecting the functioning of their respective unity - beyond the anecdotal, beyond rivalries -, going to the bottom of things, going back to certain operations, as no book had ever proposed.
We always compare GIGN and RAID, unfortunately and too often by opposing them. This book offers the possibility of informing the public, as broad as possible, about another reality: that experienced by General Orosco and Jean-Michel Fauvergue, now a deputy, and who was at the head of the Raid during the attacks in 2015, in particular at the Bataclan and the Hyper Cacher at Porte de Vincennes. Each reader will be able to get a precise idea of these two units, beyond any polemical or partisan spirit.
How do they work? Where do they come from? What are they for ? Who are the men and women who compose them? Where do they come from ? Why two units like these, and not one or three? How have they evolved and will they continue to evolve in the face of terrorism and new threats? The reader will have the privilege of walking behind the scenes of the GIGN and the RAID, to go beyond the clichés, while the terrorist threat, first and foremost Islamist, has not diminished, and remains a plague against which groups like the GIGN and the RAID are ramparts, ramparts of the Republic and democracy.
